I recently had the pleasure of speaking and learning at the Palisade Chamber of Commerce lunch. The discussions were around utilizing social media to grow your business. Many great questions were asked and discussed.

Is it ok to mix business and personal on social media?
You shouldn’t have your business account the SAME as your personal. You should cross-promote your business content onto your personal page to help reach a greater audience. In addition, the copy for your business account shouldn’t be written in the first person.

We discussed the importance of utilizing social media platforms and their benefits.

Video content was a big question that always comes up in discussions. We discussed how video is on the rise in popularity and continues to dominate as a strong marketing tool. Video is more engaging, and consumers like to see movement and are more attracted to video than static images. We are beginning to see positive trends with Facebook Live and Instagram TV.

53% of consumers engage with a brand after watching a video on social media.
93% of companies say they’ve reached a new customer thanks to video on social media.
83% of consumers are more willing to share a video of /about/from a brand than other content.
Finally, we discussed Pay to Play on boosting posts on Facebook.
We believe that you need to have a strong content strategy for your social media campaign. Build an organic base to help achieve engagement and boost your ROI. Paid ads and promotions can help improve your presence, but it is not the only way, and social media is about building trust and confidence. Organic growth fostered by community, collaboration, and cross-promotion is way more valuable than paying for clicks.
